Tom Dunderdale
Dossier
Thomas Dunderdale (1887–1960) was an Australian-Canadian professional ice hockey player who skated primarily at centre forward. Born in Benalla in the Colony of Victoria, Australia, he immigrated to Canada in 1904 and played in Winnipeg before joining the Montreal Shamrocks and Quebec Bulldogs in the early NHA era. From 1911, he spent nine seasons in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association, mostly with the Victoria Aristocrats, with three seasons split with the Portland Rosebuds. After the PCHA folded in 1923, he finished his career in the WCHL with Saskatoon and Edmonton. He is credited with scoring the first penalty shot goal in ice hockey history and in 1974 became the only Australian-born player inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
