Veryl Switzer

Veryl A. Switzer (1932–2022) was a halfback from Nicodemus, Kansas who played at Kansas State University from 1951 to 1953. In his senior year he led the Wildcats in rushing (558 yards), receiving, scoring (8 touchdowns), and return averages, and posted a 93-yard punt return touchdown — the second longest in school history. He was invited to the 1954 East–West Shrine Game and was also an All-American jumper in track and field. Switzer played 24 NFL games with the Green Bay Packers, then served two years in the Air Force before continuing his career in the Canadian Football League. He later became an administrator at Kansas State, where he is a hall of famer.
