Verda T. "Vitamin" Smith Jr. (1923–2000) was an NFL running back and return specialist who played for the Los Angeles Rams from 1949 through 1953. Before his professional career, Smith served in the U.S. Army and participated in the Battle of Normandy, then attended Abilene Christian University, where he competed in sprinting and javelin in addition to college football. In 1950, he set an NFL record by returning three kicks for touchdowns in a single season, a mark that stood until 1967.
