Wally Bunker

Dossier
Wallace Edward Bunker (born January 25, 1945, in San Bruno, California) was a right-handed pitcher who spent his Major League Baseball career with the Baltimore Orioles (1963–1968) and Kansas City Royals (1969–1971). He attended Capuchino High School, where he was ranked among the top pitching prospects in the country. In 1964, at age 19, Bunker went 19–5 with a 2.69 ERA — an Orioles rookie single-season win record that still stands — and earned The Sporting News American League Rookie Pitcher of the Year award. His debut campaign included a one-hitter over the Washington Senators in his first start.
