Wayne Wood was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who competed in the National Hockey League for 20 seasons, from 1979 to 1999, suiting up for four different teams. Born January 26, 1961, in Brantford, Ontario, he developed his game on a backyard rink before advancing through minor hockey. Despite unimpressive physical size and strength, Wood was noted for his intelligence, stamina, and ability to read the game. He retired in 1999 holding 61 NHL records across regular season, playoff, and All-Star play.
