Wilbur Jackson

Wilbur Jackson (born November 19, 1951) was a running back who played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 1971 to 1973, becoming the first Black player offered a football scholarship at the University of Alabama. He set the Alabama career record for yards per carry at 7.2, rushing for 1,529 yards on 212 attempts. In 1973 he carried five times for 138 yards against Virginia Tech. San Francisco selected him in the first round of the 1974 NFL Draft; he spent five seasons with the 49ers and three with the Washington Redskins. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
