Adolfo Luque

Adolfo Luque (1890–1957) was a Cuban right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1914 to 1935. He spent 12 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (1918–1929) and was the first Latin American pitcher in MLB, the first to earn a World Series win (1919), and the first to lead the majors in wins, shutouts, and ERA in the same season. Born in Havana, Luque also played and managed extensively in the Cuban League from 1912 to 1945, guiding Almendares to eight championships. He was inducted into the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1957.
