Al Skinner

Albert Lee Skinner Jr. (born June 16, 1952) is an American former collegiate and professional basketball player and college head coach. He played his college basketball at the University of Massachusetts, where as a freshman in the 1970–71 season he overlapped with varsity star Julius Erving, in what was Erving's final college season; the two would later play together professionally. Skinner was also a teammate of Rick Pitino. Over three years on the UMass varsity he scored 1,235 points, led the team in rebounding in each of those seasons, and led in scoring as a junior and senior. As a senior he averaged a double-double of 18.8 points and 11.0 rebounds, the scoring figure also leading the Yankee Conference. He recorded the first triple-double in UMass history—28 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists against St. Peter's on December 28, 1973, in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a three-time Yankee Conference selection. As a coach, Skinner led the Boston College Eagles men's basketball team, later worked as an assistant at Bryant University, and in 2015 became head coach at Kennesaw State University.
