Al Weis

Albert John Weis (born April 2, 1938, in Bethpage, New York) was a professional baseball infielder who played in Major League Baseball from 1962 to 1971 with the Chicago White Sox and the New York Mets. A light-hitting switch hitter for most of his career — he batted exclusively right-handed from 1969 onward — Weis accumulated just seven career home runs. He is best remembered for hitting one of them at a decisive moment: a home run in Game 5 of the 1969 World Series. He signed with the White Sox as an amateur free agent in 1959 after playing baseball while serving in the United States Navy.
