Alex Grammas

Alex Grammas (April 3, 1926 – September 13, 2019) was a right-handed infielder from Birmingham, Alabama, who played Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Redlegs, and Chicago Cubs. He attended Mississippi State University before signing with the Chicago White Sox organization in 1949. During a 1953 stint with the Kansas City Blues, Grammas batted .307 with 179 hits and earned American Association All-Star shortstop honors. His career was marked by movement between Cincinnati and St. Louis, largely due to Roy McMillan's hold on the Redlegs' shortstop position. He later worked in baseball as a manager and coach.
