Alex Kellner

Alex Kellner was a left-handed starting pitcher who played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1948 to 1959. Born in Tucson, Arizona, he spent the bulk of his career with the Philadelphia and Kansas City Athletics before brief stints with the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals. His best season came in 1949, when he went 20 wins with 37 starts, 19 complete games, and 245 innings pitched, earning a selection to the American League All-Star team. He finished his career with a 101–112 record, 816 strikeouts, and a 4.17 ERA across 1,849⅓ innings. His younger brother Walt also pitched in the major leagues.
