Dossier

André Joseph Lacroix, a Canadian professional ice hockey centre born June 5, 1945, played in both the National Hockey League and the World Hockey Association. As a youth he excelled at centre for the minor league Peterborough Petes and Quebec Aces before reaching the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers midway through the 1967-68 season, recording 14 points in 18 games to close out the year. He went on to lead the Flyers in points in each of the next two seasons with 50 points apiece, and finished his Philadelphia tenure with his third straight 20-goal season before a trade to the Chicago Black Hawks, where he struggled through a single season.

In 1972 Lacroix joined the Philadelphia Blazers of the newly created World Hockey Association and posted the best season of his career to that point, with 50 goals and 74 assists to claim the scoring trophy. Refusing to relocate when the franchise moved to Vancouver, he was traded after one season to the New York Golden Blades. Despite organizational turmoil that saw the club relocate multiple times to New Jersey and San Diego, Lacroix recorded a 100-point season in each of the following four seasons.
