Elisha Archibald Manning III, known as Archie Manning, is an American former professional football quarterback born May 19, 1949, in Drew, Mississippi. He played 14 seasons in the National Football League, primarily with the New Orleans Saints. He is the son of Jane Elizabeth Manning and Elisha Archibald Manning Jr., and grew up involved in football, basketball, baseball, and track.

Manning played college football for the Ole Miss Rebels, where he won SEC Player of the Year and the Walter Camp Memorial Trophy in 1969. The New Orleans Saints selected him second overall in the 1971 NFL draft. He spent his first 12 seasons with the Saints and received two Pro Bowl selections. He played his final two seasons as a member of the Houston Oilers and the Minnesota Vikings.

He is the patriarch of the Manning football dynasty and the father of quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning. Manning was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1989. He was an inaugural inductee of the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame in 1988 and was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Ring of Honor in 2013.
