Ariel "Ace" Maughan (April 26, 1923 – August 4, 1997) was an American professional basketball player born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Utah State University before entering the Basketball Association of America in 1946, spending five seasons across four teams. A under-the-basket scorer, Maughan earned his nickname for his shooting, though his 1946–47 season produced a 24.1% field goal percentage (224-of-929), the worst qualifying mark in BAA/NBA history. He averaged 31.7% from the field in 1948–49.
