Arlen Bockhorn

Arlen Dale "Bucky" Bockhorn, born July 8, 1933, is an American former basketball player who played guard in the National Basketball Association for the Cincinnati Royals from 1958 to 1965. Raised in the coal-mining town of Campbell Hill, Illinois, he attended Trico Consolidated High School. After one year at the University of Dayton and two years in the U.S. Army, Bockhorn became a starter for three National Invitation Tournament teams at Dayton, beginning in the 1955–56 season. As a sophomore, he played on a Flyers team that finished 25–4, placed third in the final Associated Press poll, and was runner-up in the NIT. He averaged 10.7, 11.8, and 10.8 points across his three seasons at Dayton, adding 12.4 rebounds in 1957–58, when he was named the team's most valuable player. Over those three seasons the Flyers compiled a combined record of 69–17. In 1957–58, Bockhorn was one of three brothers on the varsity roster, playing alongside Terry and Harold, one of the few times three brothers have appeared together on a single major college team in Division I history. He is a member of Dayton's Hall of Fame and the school's All-Century team.
