Arlie Latham

Walter Arlington Latham, known as "The Freshest Man On Earth" (March 15, 1860 - November 29, 1952). He was a native of West Lebanon, New Hampshire, listed in playing days at 5'8", 150 lbs. He batted right-handed and threw right-handed. His major-league career ran from 1880 through 1909, primarily with the New York Giants of the National League. His broader professional ledger — including minor-league seasons — extends from 1879 through 1911. He also took the field as a major-league manager in 1896. On the cardboard side, his vintage presence is anchored to the T206 White Border issue, which is where collectors of the period most commonly encounter him. He died on November 29, 1952 in Garden City, New York. He is interred at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale, New York.
