Arthur Spector

Arthur Spector, nicknamed "Speed," was an American basketball forward born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 17, 1920. He attended West Philadelphia High School, where he served as team captain, before playing at Villanova University and graduating in 1941. Spector holds the distinction of being the first player ever signed by the Boston Celtics, with whom he played from 1946 to 1950. He later served the organization as a scout. His grandson is former American soccer player Jonathan Spector.
