Dossier

Floyd Caves "Babe" Herman (1903–1987) was an American right fielder who played in Major League Baseball from 1926 to 1945, most prominently with the Brooklyn Robins (Dodgers). A power hitter of the late 1920s and early 1930s, Herman compiled a career batting average of .324 and a .532 slugging percentage that ranked fourth among National League hitters with at least 5,000 at-bats at retirement. His 1930 season produced Dodgers franchise records that still stand: .393 average, .678 slugging percentage, 241 hits, and 416 total bases. He hit for the cycle three times in his career, a record he shares with Bob Meusel.
