Dossier

Barry John Cullen (born August 2, 1964) is a Canadian centre who played ten seasons in the NHL. He skated college hockey at Boston University, where he became the program's all-time leading scorer. After the Buffalo Sabres took him in the 1986 supplemental draft without extending a contract, Cullen signed with the Flint Spirits of the IHL, earning co-Rookie of the Year and MVP honors after leading the league in scoring. He appeared in two NHL All-Star Games. In 1997 he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma; following an 18-month battle, he received the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy and briefly returned before retiring.
