Bennie Daniels

Bennie Daniels Jr. (born June 17, 1932, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama) was a right-handed pitcher who spent nine seasons in Major League Baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1957–1960) and Washington Senators (1961–1965). A graduate of Compton High School in Southern California, he entered professional baseball in 1951 with the Great Falls Electrics before military service interrupted his development in 1953–54. A strong 17–8 campaign with the Hollywood Stars earned him his September 1957 call-up. Over 230 appearances and 139 starts, Daniels compiled a 45-win career with 471 strikeouts and a 4.44 ERA across 997 innings. He started the final game the Brooklyn Dodgers played at Ebbets Field.
