Bernard Geoffrion

Joseph André Bernard Geoffrion (February 16, 1931 – March 11, 2006) was a Canadian right and left wing who spent the bulk of his 16-year NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens before finishing with the New York Rangers. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he earned the nickname "Boom Boom" from sportswriter Charlie Boire of the *Montreal Star* for his thundering slapshot, which Geoffrion credited himself with developing as a youngster. He was the second player in NHL history to score 50 goals in a season and won six Stanley Cup championships with Montreal. Geoffrion was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972.
