Bernie Parent

Dossier
Bernard Marcel Parent (April 3, 1945 – September 21, 2025) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played 13 National Hockey League seasons between 1965 and 1979 with the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He also spent the 1972–73 season in the World Hockey Association with the Philadelphia Blazers. Born in east Montreal, he was the youngest of seven siblings.
Parent's peak came during the 1973–74 and 1974–75 seasons, when the Flyers won the Stanley Cup twice. In both seasons he won the Vezina Trophy and the Conn Smythe Trophy, and across that two-year span he recorded 30 shutouts in regular-season and postseason play combined.
He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984. The Hockey News ranked him number 63 on its list of the Top 100 NHL Players of All-Time in 1998, and in 2017 he was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players. Parent remained a fan favorite in Philadelphia more than three decades after his retirement.
