Bill Goldsworthy

William Alfred Goldsworthy (August 24, 1944 – March 29, 1996) was a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger who played 14 seasons in the National Hockey League between 1964 and 1978, suiting up for three teams but spending most of his career with the Minnesota North Stars. Signed by the Boston Bruins as a teenager, he played his junior hockey with the Bruins' Ontario Hockey Association affiliate, the Niagara Falls Flyers, a strong club whose roster included future NHL players Derek Sanderson, Bernie Parent, Jean Pronovost, Don Marcotte, Doug Favell and Rosaire Paiement. Goldsworthy finished second and third in team scoring in his final two seasons with the Flyers, reaching the Memorial Cup finals in 1963 and winning the championship outright in 1965, a series marked by brawls and suspensions. That same season brought his NHL debut, two scoreless games with Boston. His first two NHL goals came on December 12, 1965, in a 5–3 Boston loss to Detroit at Boston Garden. With roster spots scarce during the Original Six era, Goldsworthy eventually established himself in the league, going on to a 14-season NHL career before finishing his playing days with two partial seasons in the World Hockey Association.
