Bill Mikkelson

William Robert Mikkelson (born May 21, 1948, in Neepawa, Manitoba) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the NHL from 1971 to 1977. He played junior hockey for the Brandon Wheat Kings and Winnipeg Jets before signing with the Los Angeles Kings as a free agent in 1970. After two seasons in the minors, he received a 15-game callup in 1971–72. Selected by the New York Islanders in the 1972 NHL Expansion Draft, he appeared in 72 games during their inaugural 1972–73 season. He is best known for recording a plus/minus rating of +82 with the Washington Capitals in 1974–75, the highest single-season mark in NHL history.
