Billy Knight

William R. "Billy" Knight (born June 9, 1952) is an American former professional basketball player and executive. A 6'6" guard/forward, he was raised in Braddock, Pennsylvania, a Pittsburgh suburb, where he attended Braddock High School and was a member of the 1970 Section champion Braddock Tigers. He played college basketball for the Pittsburgh Panthers, where he was named a consensus second-team All-American in 1974; the school later retired his No. 34.

Knight began his professional career with the Indiana Pacers of the American Basketball Association, earning ABA All-Rookie First Team honors in 1975. He continued with the Pacers after the franchise joined the National Basketball Association, and over his career he also played for the Buffalo Braves, Boston Celtics, Kansas City Kings and San Antonio Spurs. He was both an ABA and NBA All-Star. He closed his playing career with a season in France.

After retiring as a player, Knight moved into front-office work, serving as an executive with the Pacers and the Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies. He last served as executive vice president and general manager of the Atlanta Hawks from 2003 to 2008.
