Billy Purtell

Billy Purtell, given name William Patrick (January 6, 1886 – March 17, 1962). He was born in Columbus, Ohio and died in Bradenton, Florida. He stood 5 feet 9 inches and weighed 170 pounds. He batted and threw right-handed. He debuted in the majors in 1908 and played his last big-league season in 1914, a stretch of 7 seasons, primarily with the Chicago White Sox of the American League. His full professional career, including the minor leagues, ran from 1904 through 1928. His card presence in this catalog is on the T206 White Border tobacco issue, distributed by the American Tobacco Company between 1909 and 1911. He is interred at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, Florida.
