Robert Wilbur Barton (July 30, 1941 – January 15, 2018) was an American professional baseball catcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1965 to 1974 with the San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, and Cincinnati Reds. Primarily a backup, he caught behind Tom Haller in San Francisco and Hall of Famer Johnny Bench in Cincinnati. His most productive season came in 1971 as a starter for San Diego, where in 121 games he batted .250 with five home runs, 23 RBI, and 17 doubles. That year he also led National League catchers in runners caught stealing with 42, posting a 51.2 percent caught-stealing rate.
