Dossier

Robert Louis Boozer (April 26, 1937 – May 19, 2012) was an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to John and Viola Boozer, he moved with his family to Omaha, Nebraska, in the 1940s after his father's employer, the University of Alabama, repeatedly denied him pay raises and passed him over for promotion. In Omaha, his father worked in a meat packing plant and his mother as a hotel maid. Boozer graduated from Omaha Technical High School.

Boozer won a gold medal as a member of the 1960 United States Olympic basketball team. He later won an NBA Championship with the Milwaukee Bucks in 1971. The 1960 U.S. Olympic team was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as a unit in 2010.
