Bob Gain

Robert "Bob" Gain (June 21, 1929 – November 14, 2016) was an American professional football player who spent 13 seasons as a lineman, primarily with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League, and also played in the Canadian Football League.

Gain was a standout offensive and defensive lineman at the University of Kentucky, where he started at tackle for four years from 1947 to 1950 in the Southeastern Conference. He earned All-American honors in his final two seasons, becoming a consensus selection in 1950, and co-captained a Wildcats team that captured the SEC championship. A three-year All-SEC pick, he won the Outland Trophy in 1950 as the nation's outstanding college interior lineman and was chosen the best SEC lineman by the Atlanta and Birmingham touchdown organizations.

With Cleveland, Gain played tackle, middle guard, and end, and was a standout defender at each position. He played in five Pro Bowls within a span of seven years and was named first-team All-Pro once and second-team All-Pro seven times. The Browns led the NFL in many defensive categories during his 12 years with the team, won two-thirds of their games, and captured three championships over the course of his career.
