Bob Hopkins

Robert M. Hopkins (November 3, 1934 – May 15, 2015) was a basketball player and coach from Jonesboro, Louisiana. He played college basketball at Grambling State University, where he scored 3,759 points at a 29.8 average — holding the NAIA career records for points, field goals (1,403), free throws (953), and rebounds (12,191). He was an all-conference selection all four years and a three-time All-American, the first Grambling player to earn that distinction and the school's first professional player. He signed with the Syracuse Nationals after declining an invitation to the 1956 Olympic Games as a broad jumper.
