Dossier

Robert Michael Mischak (October 25, 1932 – June 26, 2014) played guard and tight end in both the NFL and AFL. At Army, he made a pivotal touchdown-saving tackle in a 1958 win over Duke—a play later chronicled in David Maraniss's biography of Vince Lombardi. He went on to start at guard for the New York Giants in the 1958 NFL Championship, the so-called "Greatest Game Ever Played." Mischak spent six AFL seasons from 1960 to 1965, earning Sporting News AFL All-League guard honors in 1960 and 1961 and an AFL Eastern Division All-Star selection in 1962. He later won three Super Bowls as a coach with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders.
