Dossier

Robert Netolicky, born August 2, 1942, is an American former professional basketball player who competed as a 6'9" power forward and center in the American Basketball Association from 1967 to 1976. A graduate of Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where his father was a surgeon, Netolicky played collegiately for the Drake Bulldogs from 1963 to 1967 under coach Maury John. He earned All-American honors and was a first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection in 1967, leaving Drake as the program's all-time rebounding leader with 717 rebounds and its fifth all-time leading scorer with 997 points.

Netolicky was selected by the NBA's San Diego Rockets with the 18th pick of the 1967 NBA draft, one selection behind Phil Jackson, who was taken by the New York Knicks. He never played for the Rockets, instead signing with the Indiana Pacers, who had drafted him in the first ABA draft. Across his ABA career he was a four-time ABA All-Star and a two-time ABA Champion, regarded as a well-rounded player who could rebound, defend, and shoot equally well.
