Bob Rousseau

Joseph Jean-Paul Robert Rousseau, a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger, was born in Montreal on July 26, 1940, and died December 13, 2025. He grew up in a large family with thirteen siblings, mostly sisters. Rousseau played in the National Hockey League from 1960 to 1974, most notably for the Montreal Canadiens.

He began his career with the St. Jean Braves of the Quebec Junior Hockey League in 1955–56, leading the league in scoring with 53 goals and 85 points in 44 games. The following season he moved to the Hull-Ottawa Canadiens of the Ontario Hockey Association. Hull-Ottawa reached the 1957 Memorial Cup final against the Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters, losing game seven 3–2. The club returned to the Memorial Cup in 1957–58, defeating the Regina Pats in six games.

Before turning professional, Rousseau played for the Canadian national team at the 1960 Winter Olympics, winning a silver medal. He won the Calder Memorial Trophy in 1962 as NHL Rookie of the Year. Over his NHL career he captured the Stanley Cup four times — in 1965, 1966, 1968, and 1969 — all with the Canadiens.
