Dossier

Bob Swift (born November 29, 1943, in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec) was a Canadian Football League offensive lineman who played from 1964 to 1977. Raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he was an All-American at Lancaster Catholic High School before attending Montana State and Clemson. He signed with the BC Lions, winning the Grey Cup in his rookie season while playing fullback and rushing for 1,054 yards — only the fourth Canadian-born player to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a season. A leg injury suffered during that Grey Cup game ended his effectiveness at fullback; he moved to the offensive line and earned three All-Star selections, primarily with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
