Robert Henry Adams (1921–1997) played infield in Major League Baseball from 1946 through 1959, spending the bulk of his career with the Cincinnati Reds/Redlegs before later stints with the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and Chicago Cubs. A right-handed hitter standing 5'10" and weighing 160 pounds, Adams played both second and third base. His most productive season came in 1952, when he led the National League in singles (152), at-bats (637), and games played (154), batting .283 with career highs in hits (180) and doubles (25), earning National League MVP consideration. Over 14 seasons, he posted a .269 average with 37 home runs and 303 RBI in 1,281 games.
