Bobby Douglass

Robert Gilchrist Douglass (born June 22, 1947) is an American former professional football quarterback who played ten seasons in the National Football League, primarily with the Chicago Bears. Raised in El Dorado, Kansas, where his father was a football coach, he played college football for the Kansas Jayhawks. He was a two-time All-Big Eight Conference selection in 1967 and 1968 and an All-American in 1968. During his senior season he directed Kansas to a 9–2 record, a share of the Big Eight Conference title, and a berth in the 1969 Orange Bowl, passing for 1,316 yards and 12 touchdowns and finishing seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting.

The Bears selected Douglass in the second round of the 1969 NFL/AFL draft. In 1972, playing for Chicago, he set the record for most rushing yards by a quarterback. Over the course of his career he also played for the San Diego Chargers, the New Orleans Saints, and the Green Bay Packers. Douglass retired after the 1978 season.
