Robert Lee Thomason (1928–2013) played quarterback in the NFL from 1949 to 1957, spending the bulk of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football at Virginia Military Institute, where he earned first-team All-Southern Conference honors in 1948 and was named Virginia's athlete of the year after completing 81.2% of his passes. Originally drafted seventh overall by the Los Angeles Rams in 1949, he also had a stint with the Green Bay Packers before establishing himself in Philadelphia. Thomason was selected to three Pro Bowls during his NFL career.
