William Bruce Hale (1918–1980) was a professional basketball player and coach who stood 6'1" and played guard/forward out of Medford, Oregon. He played college ball at Santa Clara before joining the early NBA with the Indianapolis Jets, Fort Wayne Pistons, and Indianapolis Olympians, averaging 9.1 points per game across his professional playing career. After retiring as a player, Hale coached at the University of Miami, where he led the program to its first NCAA Division I tournament appearance in 1960, and later coached the Oakland Oaks of the ABA and St. Mary's College of California. He was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 1986.
