Dossier

David Bruce Ridpath (1884–1925) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and general manager born in Lakefield, Ontario. He played junior hockey with the Westerns in the Ontario Hockey Association in 1904 before joining the Toronto Marlboros as a senior. After being banned from the OHA in 1906 for secretly accepting payment in the Temiskaming League, he helped found the Toronto Pros and served as their first captain. He was a member of the 1911 Stanley Cup champion Ottawa Senators. An automobile accident ended his playing career. Outside hockey, Ridpath was a competitive canoe racer and stunt paddler who performed in Great Britain, Germany, and Spain.
