Bruce Seals

Bruce A. Seals (June 18, 1953 – December 15, 2020) was an American basketball player in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, he attended Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans, and in 1971 was named Louisiana's Most Valuable High School basketball player. Seals went on to Xavier University of Louisiana, where he played under coach Bob Hopkins alongside teammate and future NBA player Donald "Slick" Watts.

Seals was drafted in the first round by the Utah Stars and played two seasons in the ABA. He was then selected in the second round of the 1975 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, for whom he played three seasons. Primarily a power forward, his career spanned five seasons across the two leagues. He retired from the NBA in 1978 and afterward played in the Italian League.

In his later years, Seals worked with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, teaching inner city youth the power of the game. He had been with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester since 1990. Seals died on December 15, 2020, at the age of 67.
