Bryan Trottier

Bryan John Trottier, born July 17, 1956, is a Canadian and American former professional ice hockey centre who played 18 seasons in the National Hockey League for the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins. Drafted 22nd overall by the Islanders in 1974, he made the opening lineup in 1975 and set a rookie record with 95 points, winning the Calder Memorial Trophy. In 1978–79 he recorded a career-high 134 points; on December 23 of that season he became the first Islander to score five goals in a game, and the same night set an NHL record for the most points in a single period with six—four goals and two assists—a mark since matched but never broken. That season he won the Art Ross Trophy as the league's leading point scorer and the Hart Memorial Trophy as its most valuable player, becoming the first and so far only Islander to take both awards. He earned the Conn Smythe Trophy for his play in the 1980 Stanley Cup playoffs, totaling 29 points in 21 games as the Islanders won the first of four consecutive Stanley Cup championships. In a game on February 13 during the 1981–82 season, he again recorded five goals.
