Bud Palmer

John Shove "Bud" Palmer (September 14, 1921 – March 19, 2013) was an American professional basketball player and sportscaster. Born in Hollywood, California, Palmer played college basketball at Princeton University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He joined the New York Knicks for the franchise's first three seasons in the Basketball Association of America, serving as the team's leading scorer in their inaugural 1946–47 season. Standing 6 ft 4 in as a professional, Palmer is credited as one of the inventors of the jump shot, a technique he developed earlier in his career to compensate for his smaller stature.
