Carl Morton

Carl Wendle Morton (January 18, 1944 – April 12, 1983) was a right-handed pitcher who played eight seasons in Major League Baseball with the Montreal Expos and Atlanta Braves. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Morton grew up in West Tulsa and played outfield at the University of Oklahoma before converting to a pitcher in the Atlanta Braves organization. He was selected by Montreal in the 1968 expansion draft and earned NL Rookie of the Year honors in 1970. Morton finished his career with an 87–92 record, 650 strikeouts, and a 3.73 ERA across 1,648.2 innings pitched.
