Carl Willey

Carlton Francis Willey (June 6, 1931 – July 20, 2009) was a right-handed pitcher from Cherryfield, Maine, who spent eight seasons in Major League Baseball with the Milwaukee Braves and New York Mets. Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds, Willey compiled his career during the late 1950s and early 1960s. He missed the first three months of the 1964 season after a line drive from Gates Brown during spring training broke his jaw. Following his playing career, Willey worked as a scout for the Philadelphia Phillies. He died of lung cancer on July 20, 2009, in Ellsworth, Maine.
