Carlton Fisk

Carlton Ernest Fisk, born December 26, 1947, was an American professional baseball catcher who played 24 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox. Nicknamed "Pudge" and "the Commander," he debuted as a regular in 1972, when he became the first player to be unanimously voted American League Rookie of the Year. He is best known for his game-winning home run in the 12th inning of Game 6 of the 1975 World Series, during which he waved his arms in an effort to keep the batted ball fair.

At the time of his retirement, Fisk held the record for the most home runs all-time by a catcher with 376, a mark later surpassed by Mike Piazza. He also held the record for most games played at catcher with 2,226, later surpassed by Iván Rodríguez, who shared the nickname "Pudge." Fisk still holds the American League record for most years served at the position, with 24. Over his career he was voted to the All-Star team 11 times and won three Silver Slugger Awards, given annually to the best offensive player at each position. In 2000, Fisk was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
