Cedric Maxwell

Cedric Bryan Maxwell, nicknamed "Cornbread," played small forward in the NBA for 11 seasons beginning in the late 1970s. At UNC Charlotte, he led the 49ers to the 1977 NCAA Final Four. Drafted by the Boston Celtics, he moved into the starting lineup for the 1978–79 season. The arrival of Larry Bird, followed by Robert Parish and Kevin McHale in 1980–81, transformed Boston into a title contender. Maxwell was named Finals MVP when the Celtics won the 1980–81 NBA championship. He later competed with McHale for the starting power forward spot before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
