Charles Lawrence Davis, born September 7, 1949, was a college basketball player best known for his career at Wake Forest University. A native of New York City, he was the second African American player in Wake Forest's history. In 1971 Davis was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year, becoming the first black player to receive the award. He earned first-team All-ACC honors three years in a row. Davis was selected in the eighth round of the 1971 NBA draft, 120th overall, by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
