Charlie Joiner

Charlie Joiner (born October 14, 1947) played wide receiver for 18 seasons in the AFL and NFL, most prominently with the San Diego Chargers. He played college football at Grambling, earning three first-team all-conference honors in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Originally drafted as a defensive back by the Houston Oilers in the fourth round of the 1969 AFL/NFL draft, he was moved back to wide receiver before spending three and a half seasons each with Houston and the Cincinnati Bengals. Traded to San Diego in 1976, Joiner spent eleven seasons with the Chargers, earning all three of his Pro Bowl selections there and a first-team All-Pro designation from the Associated Press in 1980. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
