Chris Speier

Chris Speier (born June 28, 1950) was a Major League Baseball shortstop who played 19 seasons across several National League clubs, most prominently the San Francisco Giants and the Montreal Expos. A native of Alameda, California, he earned the nickname "the Alameda Rifle" for his strong throwing arm. Drafted by the Giants with the second overall pick in 1970, he earned three consecutive NL All-Star selections (1972–1974) and compiled a career .246 batting average and .970 fielding percentage. He was dealt to Montreal in a straight shortstop swap for Tim Foli in April 1977.
