Chuck Dobson

Charles Thomas Dobson (1944–2021) was a right-handed pitcher who spent nine seasons in Major League Baseball with the Kansas City and Oakland Athletics and the California Angels. He played college baseball at the University of Kansas and represented the United States as one of seven pitchers on the baseball team at the 1964 Summer Olympics, when the sport appeared as a demonstration event. Dobson made his major league debut on April 19, 1966, in Kansas City. His best season came in 1970, when he posted a career-high 16 wins and threw five shutouts, tying Jim Palmer and Gaylord Perry for the major league lead. He went 15–5 in 1971 before elbow surgery sidelined him for the 1972 season.
